#Calling a spade a spade, #calling a deer a horse, #political correctness,
One chengyu (Chinese idiomatic expression) that is derived from an incident involving Zhao Gao is “point to a deer and call it a horse” (指鹿為馬; zhǐlù-wéimǎ) or “calling a deer a horse“, meaning “deliberate misrepresentation for ulterior purposes”. The Records of the Grand Historian records that Zhao Gao, in an attempt to control the Qin government,
devised a loyalty test for court officials using a deer and horse:
Zhao Gao was contemplating treason but was afraid the
other officials would not heed his commands, so he decided to test them
first. He brought a deer and presented it to the Second Emperor
but called it a horse. The Second Emperor laughed and said, “Is the
chancellor perhaps mistaken, calling a deer a horse?” Then the emperor
questioned those around him. Some remained silent, while some, hoping to
ingratiate themselves with Zhao Gao, said it was a horse, and others
said it was a deer. Zhao Gao secretly arranged for all those who said it
was a deer to be brought before the law and had them executed
instantly. Thereafter the officials were all terrified of Zhao Gao. Zhao
Gao gained military power as a result of that. (tr. Watson 1993:70)
The Western World is now going through that ancient experience. A spade cannot be called a spade any more or the speaker would be Politically Incorrect and labeled “Fascist”, “Denier”, “anti-$******” !
When this type of phenomenon arises there is certainly someone trying to rule the population by insidious means (A new USA Amendment to Define Words and Prohibit Against their Unauthorized Modification is required. posted on 2019 Aug. 26.).
Security: noun, plural se·cu·ri·ties. freedom from danger, risk, etc.; safety. https://www.dictionary.com/browse/security
A security is a tradable financial asset. The term commonly refers to any form of financial instrument, but its legal definition varies by jurisdiction. In some countries and languages the term “security” is commonly used in day-to-day parlance to mean any form of financial instrument, even though the underlying legal and regulatory regime may not have such a broad definition. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Security_(finance)
In summary, when you buy “Securities” your security is NOT improved, it decreases. You are swapping your State guaranteed money with bonds, shares, debentures which generate some income for a short while but which may disappear anytime afterward and you may then become much poorer. You have to work out the intention of Brokers when they use this term to get you to sign the contracts.
Buying a “future” in a financial market means betting that some share or commodity price will go up. If your bet goes terrible, you may lose everything, including your actual future.
A bank gives you a “credit” means you may borrow at your own risk from that bank.
Games are animals used as targets for shootings and gamers are those who shoots those animals but in the Australian gamblers in Casinos are called gamers. You have to work out the intention of the Casinos when they use this term.
Semites, Semitic peoples or Semitic cultures was a term for an ethnic, cultural or racial group. The terminology is now largely obsolete outside thegrouping “Semitic languages” in linguistics. First used in the 1770s by members of the Göttingen School of History, this Biblical terminology
for race was derived from Shem, one of the three sons of Noah in the Book of Genesis, together with the parallel terms Hamites and Japhetites. In archaeology, the term is sometimes used informally as “a kind of shorthand” for ancient Semitic-speaking peoples
