A cyber attack in the municipality of Anhalt-Bitterfeld, in the state of Saxony-Anhalt, Germany, with a population of 157,000 has parallyzed the district prompting the district council to declare the first ever ‘cyber-catastrophe’ last Tuesday. The hacker attack paralyzed the IT operations of the whole region and have remained offline since Tuesday. It is expected that normal operations will be restored next week.

Nobody would have thought until now that there are so many and important data centers in Saxony-Anhalt. So someone knew exactly where – if it was true – to start the cyber attack.
